Subject: Food
My dad got dementia and he loves to eat noodles ( esp Wan tan noodles) very much. He can eat for lunch and dinner and without any complain.
At times, I am too busy to prepare rice so i do give him noodles which is faster ( not instant noodles) plus he really enjoy eating them.
However I am concerned whether it is alright for him to eat that often.
Thank you
Answer from DementiaNet
Hi
It should be alright to give him the noodles if he likes them. Dementia persons may develop specific tastes and may even have problems with poor appetite so for their quality of life, it is good to cater to their tastes as long as it does not interfere will any other illnesses such as diabetes or hypertension.
However try and ensure that they have a balanced diet with plenty fruits and vegetables that he likes as well.
